How do I know when its time to have my hardwood floors refinished? If your floors have been subjected to water damage or just wear and tear, then it might be time to have your floors refinished. If the hardwood floors are in decent condition and just need to be recoated, we will lightly sand the surface and apply polyurethane to bring them back to life. When hardwood floors have suffered major wear or water damage, the process will require much heavier sanding and then an application of polyurethane. We do not require the homeowner to prep the room before the project begins. We are happy to move furniture and other items for you. However, if a larger item like a piano is present, we do recommend contacting a professional to help move it.
The Floor Refinishing Clean Up Process
Refinishing hardwood floors is not a particularly clean project. The process will create dust and particulates throughout the immediate area and some of the other adjacent rooms. We take great care to protect your home and furniture by using plastic coverings to mitigate any dust created during the project. Additional cleaning may be needed several days after the flooring has been refinished. Once completed, your floors will look brand new and will last another 20-25 years with basic care and maintenance.
